If the door has jumped its track, don't run the opener again: every cycle bends the track further and can pull the door off entirely. Disconnect the opener and call; re-tracking a door is simpler when the rails haven't been forced.

How doors come off track

Most often it's a car bumper tap on the door, hitting the door with the opener while the slide lock is engaged, a broken roller, or a cable that lost tension and let the door shift sideways in the opening. Coastal humidity and salt air also work on the hardware over the years, corroding fasteners and letting track brackets drift out of alignment. A hard storm can knock a door off track too.

What we do on site

Noisy door? It's usually the rollers

If your door rumbles through the house first thing in the morning, worn steel rollers are the most common cause, and salt air rusts the bearings. A full set of sealed nylon rollers is an inexpensive upgrade we can do on any service visit, and it's the single best noise fix short of a new insulated door.

FAQ

Common questions

Can a bent track be repaired or does it need replacement?
Minor bends can be straightened on site; kinked or torn sections get replaced. The technician will show you which you have before quoting.
Why is my garage door so loud?
Worn steel rollers, loose or rusted hardware and dry hinges cause most of the racket. A roller upgrade plus lubrication on a service visit usually transforms it.
The door jumped the track when it hit my car. Is that fixable?
Usually yes. Light impacts mean re-seating the door and replacing a roller or two. For the worse cases we bring track sections or order them, and tell you which.
Is an off-track door dangerous?
Yes. The door's weight is no longer carried evenly and it can fall. Keep people and cars clear and leave it where it is until it's re-tracked.
