Polyurethane insulation gives Designer's Choice R-values from 13.35 to 19.40 in a carriage house steel door.
Designer's Choice is the insulated answer to the Classica look. Where the flagship line offers insulation as an option, this door builds it in. Triple-layer construction puts 1-3/8 inch or 2 inch polyurethane between the steel skins, for door R-values of 13.35 to 19.40. That is the energy case for the line, which also carries the Energy Efficient designation, Quiet Door and the WindPro wind-load option.
The 3 panel designs are Bead Board, Long Bead Board and Recessed. Windows follow the same long list as the other Amarr carriage house steel doors. Among them are Thames, Arched Thames, Moonlite, Victorian, Heartland, Mission, Jardin and Trellis, or closed sections for no glass. The finish chart holds 8 options, from True White and Almond to Dark Brown, Walnut and Mahogany.
The extra R-value is the reason to choose this line over a polystyrene door. It earns its keep on a heated workshop, a garage below a bedroom, or a garage wall that faces west into afternoon sun.
