Carriage house garage doors
The look of swing-out barn doors on a sectional that rolls up overhead, in steel, composite overlay and built-to-order wood.
Carriage house garage doors take their look from the swing-out doors on old carriage barns: vertical planks or cross-bucks, arched or square windows across the top, and strap hinges and handles at the seams. On a modern door those hinges are decorative. The door itself is a sectional that rolls up overhead on standard tracks, so it works with any opener and needs no clear space in front of the garage.
There are 50 carriage house designs here from 12 collections, and most are steel. The design is either stamped into the steel section or built up as a composite overlay on top of it, which is why a steel carriage door keeps its shape and color with paint touch-ups instead of wood care. Several collections offer insulated versions, and the composite-overlay doors come on insulated steel-backed sections. Real wood versions are built to order and quoted per door.
They suit craftsman bungalows, farmhouses, cottages and the new-build neighborhoods that borrow from all three, and a two-tone color, a lighter base with darker trim, is the quickest way to make the planks and windows read from the street. Filter by color, material, windows or width, save the ones you like, and compare them side by side in the shortlist. The wind-rated doors guide explains the reinforcement option several of these collections carry.
